IkkyG does Soundwave FestivalThe day started with me catching a bus to Central in order to catch a train to Blacktown in order to catch a bus to Eastern Creek Raceway. Yeahhh....
![]() It was raining cats, dogs and dinosaurs, so I was worried that the festival was going to be one big wet muddy bowl. Thankfully, it was just a coastal shower so it was only overcast in Eastern Creek. Although there was an awful lot of mud and one of the stages had huge trenches of dried mud x_x We had to wait for my friend Michael's friend Kieran to come, so we waited outside the line for a while because we had his ticket. This was a fatal error as the line took like 1 1/2 hours to get through. They individually bag and ID checked everyone who entered -_- ![]() So for the 1 1/2 I was waiting, I amused myself by crowd watching, where there was some lulzy people and awesome hair cuts. Observe epic green mohawk dude below. I also listened to Less Than Jake play in the stand next to the line. I wish I had seen them play D: ![]() Finally me and my friends got let in, and we skedaddled our way to the metal stage to listen to the end of Unearth's set. We then stuck around and watched Evergreen Terrace play. They were decent, although kind of generic-hardcore kind of music. ![]() I then scooted along to watch Anberlin play. They were pretty much what I expected, the songs sounded as good live as on their CD, and the lead singer sang really well, holding some pretty impressive notes. ![]() The mosh for Anberlin was strangely rough for such a calm band, as a result all the shots I tried to take on my compact are all blurry where Ive been in the middle of taking a photo then been hit by a crowdsurfer. I have no idea why the lead singer is wearing a scarf seeing as it was like a million degrees. ![]() ![]() After Anberlin finished playing, my mates and I sat down and rehydrated, whilst watching Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and mocking them from afar. Their music sounded a bit clusterfuck-ish because one of the guitarists seemed a bit out of time, and the lead singer had filters on his voice, which is pretty lame for a live set. ![]() ![]() Michael and I then went and watched Funeral for a Friend, which was awesome, although the crowd were kind of douchey and for the second mosh in a row I managed to have a circle pit open right behind me and have people launching themselves over my head. -_- For this reason, I took no photos as I value my trusty olympus, and also needed to concentrate on keeping alive. Afterwards we went and watch Lacuna coil, who played a pretty badass set. Scabbia's voice is simply amazing live, and my friend Michael who has seen Evanesence live told me that Scabbia was able to sustain notes in a way that Amy Lee simply can not. The whole band played with so much energy, and had totally badass instruments with extra strings and whatnot. ![]() ![]() Michael, Kieran and I then met up to watch New Found Glory. None of us could be bothered to go into the crowd, seeing as none of us were fans, but they played a decent set, although I was disturbed at how everyone but us three knew all the words. -_- Then Alkaline Trio played, who I was eagerly awaiting to see live. They were 100% awesome, although I was suprised at how normal they all looked haha, I wanted to see crazy outfits and copious amounts of makeup and hair dye. No such luck. Again, I almost broke my camera trying to take photos and got walloped by so many crowd surfers its not funny. Although I was 3 people from the front, so I got a wicked good view of the band :D ![]() Skiba looks kind of demonic in this photo lulz. We then ran from the Alkaline Trio set to watch 25 minutes of the Nine Inch Nails set. The NIN and AK3 sets began at the same time, but the NIN ran for longer, so we got to watch some of the end. My Nine Inch Nails photos are trully shitteous because I was so far away and the lighting was seizure inducing -_- Tbh I didn't really get into their set because I'm not really a huge NIN fan. ![]() I then frolicked to Lamb of God to watch the last 40 minutes of their set (because it began when AK3 ended). They were AWESOME. I felt like a rag doll, because I spent most of their set running around in the circle pit and trying not to get squished by crowdsurfers. ![]() ![]() ![]() Then we frolicked home, hurray! It was awesome, albeit expensive, day. The tickets cost $110, and I bought two shirts which came to $75, and all the food/drinks were ridiculously overpriced x_x Related Groups:

THE CROWDS AT THE STATION WERE MASSIVE!
I had forgotten it was the day of Soundwave so I had no idea why there were so many cops there (I was hoping for a drug bust or bomb threat). As soon as I saw the crowd of black swarm past me I knew what was going on. And I'm pretty sure I saw the guy with the mohawk lol.

I agree. I'm glad you made it out alive to tell the tale. I would have loved to have seen Lacuna Coil.
